Humor is a success factor in working life. Studies show: Employees who successfully use humor, radiate self-confidence and competence. A humorous working atmosphere also creates a bond, reduces distance and strengthens the sense of togetherness. Teams that laugh together are more efficient, more creative and more satisfied. Supervisors and executives also benefit: Anyone who uses humor with tact will appear approachable and authentic.

"Funny, isn't it?"

This article first appeared in uniFOKUS, the University of Bern print magazine. Four times a year, uniFOKUS focuses on one specialist area from different points of view. Current focus topic: humor.

In a complex and often demanding world of work, humor helps you to remain flexible, adopt new perspectives and overcome challenges together. Positive, inclusive humor connects and brings people together, while inappropriate, exaggerated jokes have the opposite effect. A good sense of humor therefore pays off – both professionally and personally.
